Ravens Room

Gary
now leaned closer to the space between the door and the wall; pressing his
large ears against it he listened.
Nothing, he thought. Now the curiosity burning inside of him, he was compelled
to find out
just what her room looked like. Gary pushed the door back. He was surprised it
wasn’t locked and almost fell forward onto the floor. He stood up and looked
around, her room illuminated by the light coming in from the hallway. It was
dark.
There was a desk pushed up next to the large window that overlooked the bay, a
beautiful dark blue sky could be seen, the first stars just barely shinning
forth. There was a lamp on the desk with some papers and books scattered atop
it.
Her closest was closed and he dared not open it. There was the infamous mirror,
which was wrapped up in cloth and newspaper in a corner.
He shuddered at the memory of that affair. He smelled a peculiar odor and
looked over by her bedside on a small coffee table. Incense burned.
Still fresh. He moved towards her bed. It was covered by a blue comforter and
was neatly tucked into the corners of the mattress. Three pillows were stacked
against the headboard. The floor was mostly hardwood as the other dorms were
but Raven had put two rugs by her bedside and one at her bathroom entrance.
He went to her computer desk. Little ugly dolls of some sort of troll like
creature lined her desktop. Her computer was off. He caught the soft whine of
her printer still
humming, on. He knew he had little time left. He looked at her bookshelf. Rows
of old thick dusty books lined her shelf. Little trinkets and medallions of
some old ancient script
lined her shelves as well. A photo of her when she was young was carefully
placed at the top. Then he noticed the other ones.
Up by the ceiling across from her bed, where a person could see them while
resting in the comfort of their bed, were several framed photos.
One showed Raven with her arms cross and her hood off not smiling.
The second was of the team her in the middle. He remembered it was a photo for
the newspaper a year ago. A third was of her striking a pose with a weak smile.
And the fourth-he gasped.
His eyes lit up with little hearts. The fourth photo was of Gary and Raven
taken by Starfire for her scrapbook at Fisherman’s wharf. He had bought Raven a
bucket hat that day and after incessant nagging
convinced her to pose with it on in front of a landing. Her face was one of
annoyance, but he on the other hand was beaming with a huge grin. He felt his
heart rise. He was in bliss. He moved toward the restroom now brazen with new
boldness. He flicked the light switch and looked around. There was a tile floor
with a large bathtub. Shampoo, soap and conditioners lined the rim. On the sink
counter were a toothbrush and paste along with various minerals and herbal
cremes. A weird device that he at first though was a shaver was plugged into
the wall charging with a small red light at its base flickering. It wasn’t a
shaver because he saw it at the opposite ending charging as well.
Overlooking this he found a towel hung to dry on a bar in the wall. He held it
to his nose and sniffed it.
It smelled like lilies and soap. He giggled and dabbed it to his face. Now
realizing he had overstayed his allotted time he placed on himself, he turned
of the light and turned to walk out the door when he was startled. What are
you doing in my Room?” Raven asked him in her usual cold dark tone. Her
eyes flashed menacingly at him. Gary felt a lump in his throat grow. He was in
Deep Shit.
